James M. Slade
James M. Slade (September 8, 1812—April 10, 1875) was a Vermont politician who served as Lieutenant Governor from 1856 to 1857.
==Biography==
The son of Governor William Slade, James Madison Slade was born in Middlebury, Vermont on September 8, 1812. He was raised and educated in Middlebury and became a dry goods merchant.〔(History of the Town of Middlebury ), by Samuel Swift, 1859, page 278〕〔(James M. Active in politics as a member of the American Party, also called the Know Nothings, and later the Republican Party, Slade was Clerk of the Vermont House of Representatives from 1853 to 1856.
